WOODINVILLE, WA -- Jinyoung Lee Englund is the first to raise over $500,000 in the 45th Legislative District State Senate special election. Englund, a resident of Woodinville, now leads the opponent in fundraising despite the opponent’s two month head-start.
“I am blown away by the outpouring of support from people of all walks of life,” said Englund. “People understand that each dollar donated to help us win puts us closer to lowering car tab fees, preventing a new state income tax from being imposed on us, and holding Olympia accountable to steward our hard-earned tax dollars wisely.”
Though a first time candidate, Englund’s June 21 Kickoff Breakfast was attended by over 450 Eastsiders as well as Washingtonians across the state. To date, 95% of Englund’s donations are from within Washington state. In contrast, over $100,000 or 25% of the opponent’s donations are from out of state -- primarily, California.
“This election will determine the balance of power in our state,” said Englund. “Washingtonians will be directly impacted by the outcome and it should be Washingtonians, not out of state interests, that influence our state’s future.”
