Stop Neighborhood Heroin Injection Sites
Seattle officials want to impose government-sponsored heroin injection sites on the Eastside. These injection sites would allow users to inject themselves with taxpayer funded equipment and illegal drugs.
These sites are modeled after facilities in Vancouver, B.C., where overdose rates skyrocketed nearly 600% since heroin injection sites opened in 2003.
Vancouver Police estimate that the few blocks surrounding the B.C. injection site are now home to more than 5,000 intravenous drug users.
We chose to live on the Eastside to raise our families and this is not the place for heroin injection sites. Not only is this not compassionate, it will take away an estimated $6 million in taxpayer money from proven treatment methods that put people who suffer on a pathway out of their drug dependency.
